This piece is about the song Rocket Man by Elton John. The meaning behind the piece is that it is based of the book The Rocket Man by Rad Bradbury. The book is from the perspective of a child whose father is going into space and is unsure about leaving his family and the dangers space has. To represent that I first channeled my inner DIY mom and made a galaxy with sponging and splattering on paint. Then to represent the little boy I did a silhouette with him pointing up at the moon that has representations of the uneasiness and worries his dad was feeling, like explosions or the word unknown. This piece was really fun to do mainly because of the background. It didn't involve a huge amount of thought, just putting colors on a paper. Overall I think the piece went well. Some things I didn't like was that when I finished it felt blank to me and I felt like I needed to add more, but I didn't know what, but also at the same time I felt like it didn't need more. But in the end I'm satisfied.
