My artist was Joan Miro and 4 main ideas I used for reference was more of his abstract landscapes that had lots of lines, bright colors, geometric shapes, and a simplistic design.
2. Describe the craftsmanship of your painting.
The craftsmanship of my painting is pretty good in my opinion. It could have been way more neat by me adding more layers to the colors that were more transparent like yellows and oranges and the straight lines could have been straighter, but I had to keep going since I am a very slow painter and took a while doing this project.
3. What was the most difficult part of this project?
The most difficult part was because of all the light and bright colors Miro uses, most of the colors were transparent and needed layers of white then multiple layers of the color to show up well. That aspect definitely took up most of my time to get that bright shade of color that Miro achieves.
4. Describe your color choices and how they reflect the work of your chose artist.
My color choices were very bright with lots of yellows, greens, pinks, blues, and purples. These colors were used often in Miro's more abstract landscapes which I based mine off of. It didn't include a lot of red or darker colors, the only aspect where darker colored were used was more in the background in the buildings.
5. Describe how the style of your landscape reflects your chosen artist.
The style of my landscape reflects Miro because it is very abstract. Instead of painting grass in my landscape, I created brightly colored striped areas of land like Miro did. I also made the bushes and trees into more geometric shapes, like how Miro would paint his trees as different shapes and sizes of triangles.
6. What do you think your chosen artist would stay if he or she could see your painting today?
I think Joan Miro would be flattered that I did a painting in his style, but would probably have a lot of critiques that would be helpful because what better critique than of the man who I'm basing the style off of?
7. What would you do differently if you were to do this project again?
I would do more layers of each colors to make them as solid and bright as Miro had them. I would also take the time to have a more interesting landscape that would be more out of the ordinary for Miro but would be a challenge to do in his style because of that.
