The song this piece is based off of is For What It's Worth by Buffalo Springfield. The song is about the protests that took place after the Pandora's Box nightclub closed, which was a popular nightclub in the 60s. The protest was peaceful, but turned violent when the police showed up. I felt like the song can relate very easily to times now. For the piece I did an up close of the front on the night club, with protesters in the windows. The background is a collage of images from that night and the protests. What I like about the piece is contrast between the color of the nightclub and the black and white of the background. With this piece I was able to get it done in the timeframe it needed to be done, which was a nice change. It turned out to be one of my favorites. Some things I struggled on was getting the background to blend with the paint portion of it, because if I would paint over it you could tell the places I could, so I used a lot of gel medium and did multiple paint layers over it.
